Leather care guide
The perfect grain and colour are both important factors when it comes to leather to maintain the highest quality and longevity. With frequent use, small creases may develop adding to the character and beauty of your leather piece. Discover our simple tips for keeping your leather looking its best all year round.
LEATHER - RULE 1
Dye cannot be completely fixed to leather and so there is a risk of these colours transferring onto lighter coloured materials and upholstery. It is best to avoid contact with these materials, and similarly, avoid contact with clothing that has strong dyes as this may transfer onto your bag or shoes with wear.
RULE 2
To maintain your leather’s original appearance, we recommend against over exposure to water, light and heat. If your leather becomes wet, absorb excess liquid by dabbing gently with a soft cloth and allow to dry at room temperature.
RULE 3
If your leather shoes or bag gets scratched, apply a leather nourisher to these areas using a dry cloth. We recommend to try this first on a small part of your item first where not visible, to make sure the cream has the right finish and colour. It is worth noting that the cream can leave the leather with a shinier look then before applied, therefore we wouldn’t recommend using on matte leathers.
RULE 4
Keep leather away from greasy substances, perfumes and cosmetics. You can do this by using a cotton dust bag (provided with our leather bags) or a shoe box (provided with our footwear). We recommend storing in these to protect your pieces for years to come.
SUEDE - RULE 1
Due to the natural properties of suede, dye cannot be completely fixed and so there is a risk of these colours transferring onto lighter coloured materials and upholstery. It is best to avoid contact with these materials, and similarly, avoid contact with clothing that has strong dyes as this may transfer onto your bag or shoes with wear.
RULE 2
To maintain your suede’s original appearance, we recommend against over exposure to water, light and heat. Prior to your first wear, use a liquid protector spray for an invisible water-repellent barrier to protect from stains and spills.
RULE 3
If you do find water stains or dirt on your suede piece, we recommend to clean with a soft brush, to remove and create a unified look. Avoid hard or metal brushes to avoid damaging the suede.
RULE 4
Keep suede away from greasy substances, perfumes and cosmetics. You can do this by using a cotton dust bag (provided with our suede bags) or a shoe box (provided with our footwear). We recommend storing in these to protect your pieces for years to come.
